Fascia iliaca block vs intravenous fentanyl as an analgesic technique before positioning for spinal anesthesia in patients undergoing surgery for femur fractures-a randomized trial
OrthoEvidence Journal (OE Journal) - ACE Report
OE Journal. 2017;5(19):8 J Clin Anesth. 2016 Dec;35:398-40360 patients scheduled for fixation of a femoral fracture under spinal anesthesia were randomized to either a fascia iliaca block or intravenous fentanyl 0.5ug/kg for analgesia prior to positioning patients to subarachnoid block. Patients were assessed for pain and the patients' ability to position themselves for subarachnoid block unassisted. Outcomes significantly favoured the group administered the fascia iliaca block compared to intravenous fentanyl.
