Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy for Treating Chronic Low Back Pain: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials.
Biomed Res Int . 2021 Nov 15;2021:5937250.Ten randomized controlled trials with 455 patients diagnosed with chronic low back pain were included in a meta-analysis evaluating the efficacy of extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT) to sham therapy or active comparators. The outcomes of interest were pain scores and disability at 1 and 3 months follow-up. The ESWT group had significantly lower pain scores at 1 month follow-up but these differences were not evident at 3 month follow-up. The ESWT group had significantly improved disability scores at 1 and 3 months follow-up.
