Phys Ther. 2012 Mar;92(3):363-77. Epub 2011 Dec 1.Exclusive Author Interview
Dr. Macedo discusses the effect of motor control exercises versus graded activity in patients with chronic nonspecific low back pain.
172 patients suffering from non-specific, chronic (>12 weeks) low back pain where randomized to compare clinical and functional result between motor control and graded activity exercise therapies. Results at 2, 6 and12 months indicated there were no significant differences between the two exercise therapies. Authors suggest that practitioners should select an exercise therapy based on level of experience and comfort with implementing the program.
