Comparison of soft-tissue serum markers in stable intertrochanteric fracture: Dynamic hip screw versus proximal femoral nail. A preliminary study
Injury, Int. J. Care Injured 42 (2011) 204-20820 elderly patients with stable intertrochanteric fractures were randomized to receive either a dynamic hip screw (DHS) or proximal femoral nail fixation (PFN). This study assessed the soft tissue damage caused by each procedure through measurement of serum soft tissue markers. The results indicated that both PNF and DHS produce similar amounts of soft tissue damage. This was indicated by similar measures of soft tissue markers during analysis of absolute levels and temporal changes.
