Efficacy and safety of etodolac and naproxen in patients with osteoarthritis of the knee: a double-blind, placebo-controlled study

254 patients with symptomatic knee osteoarthritis were randomized to receive either etodolac 400mg, naproxen 500mg, or placebo for 4 weeks. Patients were assessed for clinical efficacy using Patients' and Physicians' Global Assessments, and safety was assessed using the incidence of adverse events. Both etodolac and naproxen demonstrated significantly better results for clinical efficacy compared to placebo, with no significant differences between etodolac and naproxen.
