EFORT: QUADRA vs. AMIStem femoral components for THA .
Periprosthetic Bone Mineral Density After Total Hip Arthroplasty With An AMIStem Or Quadra Femoral Component Performed By A Minimally Invasive Anterior Approach (AMIS): A Prospective Randomised Clinical Dualenergy X-Ray Absorptiometry Study.
40 patients scheduled for total hip arthroplasty (THA) were randomly assigned into 1 of 2 groups to test two different stem designs; QUADRA and AMIS. The results of the study indicated that both stem designs significantly improved clinical scores (HHS and HAAS) by final follow up, and revealed no significant difference between them regarding clinical outcomes at any time point. Bone mineral density (BMD) analysis demonstrated a slight reduction in bone density after 1 year in both groups, specifically within Gruen Zone 7.
