Efficacy and Safety of Tranexamic Acid Combined with Absorbable Hemostat in Reducing Perioperative Blood Loss in Total Knee Arthroplasty: A Prospective, Blinded, Randomized Controlled Trial.

研究概要

120 patients scheduled for primary total knee arthroplasty (TKA) were randomized to receive tranexamic acid (TXA) alone, absorbable hemostat (AH) alone, or tranexamic acid combined with absorbable hemostat (TXA+AH). The primary outcome of interest was perioperative blood loss, hemoglobin and hematocrit levels, maximum hemoglobin change, and postoperative complications. Secondary outcomes were perioperative inflammation, coagulation function, and early knee function. Outcomes were assessed through the perioperative period and during follow-up exceeding 6 months. Overall, the results of the study revealed significantly lower total and hidden blood loss, higher postoperative hemoglobin levels, and reduced anemia rates in the combination group compared with either single-treatment group, without an increase in complications. These findings suggest that combining tranexamic acid with absorbable hemostat provides superior blood management and accelerates early recovery after TKA.
