Effects of breathing exercises on low back pain in clinical: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
Complement Ther Med . 2023 Dec:79:102993.11 randomized controlled trials (458 patients) comparing breathing exercises against a control were included in this systematic review and meta-analysis. Outcomes of interest included the Oswestry Disability Index (ODI) and pain on a Visual Analog Scale (VAS). A subgroup analysis of less than and greater than 6 weeks follow-up and monotherapy or combination therapy were also assessed. All outcomes favored the breathing exercise group with the exception of VAS scores before 6 weeks of follow-up and and VAS scores with the use of combination therapy.
