Behav Pharmacol. 1998 23-Feb;():. 10.1097/00008877-199811000-00011Twelve healthy subjects underwent a double-blind, pseudo-randomized, placebo-controlled study to test the effects of the hallucinogen psilocybin on prepulse inhibition (PPI) and habituation of the startle reflex. Subjects were divided equally into two groups of either placebo or psilocybin and completed a startle session. Psilocybin increased PPI with the 8-dB prepulse intensity and had no clear effect on habituation.
