Effects of Ayahuasca on the Recognition of Facial Expressions of Emotions in Naive Healthy Volunteers: A Pilot, Proof-of-Concept, Randomized Controlled Trial
J Clin Psychopharmacol. 2021 23-Feb;():. 10.1097/JCP.0000000000001396A pilot, parallel group, randomized controlled trial of 22 healthy volunteers examined the differences in the recognition of facial expressions of emotions (REFE) between participants administered ayahuasca and placebo. Participants were administered wither 1 mL/kg ayahuasca or placebo based on their group allocation. When compared to placebo, ayahuasca did not have any significant effects on REFE.
