Effect of medium with moderate temperature on patient's body temperature during percutaneous endoscopic lumbar discectomy
J Orthop Surg Res. 2022 Jun 28;17(1): 336.One hundred and ten patients undergoing intervertebral foramen surgery were randomized to either receive heated saline for irrigation (n=55) or saline at room temperature (n=55). Outcomes that were measured were core body temperature, pain scores using a Visual Analog Scale (VAS), and inflammatory cytokines. Significant differences were noted in pain scores 6 hours after the surgery as well as at all time points when considering inflammatory cytokines with better outcomes in the observation group.
