OE Journal. 2013;1(18):10 Injury. 2012 Jun;43(6):766-71. doi: 10.1016/j.injury.2011.08.031. Epub 2011 Oct 1104 patients with ankle fractures were randomized to undergo early or delayed mobilization following fixation surgery. Patients were assessed on the basis of length of hospital stay and wound condition at 10-14 days following surgery. The results indicated that patients who had undergone early mobilization experienced shorter length of stay compared to delayed mobilization, and that wound healing complications were not increased.
