Efficacy of prophylactic low dose of tranexamic acid in spinal fixation surgery: a randomized clinical trial
J Neurosurg Anesthesiol. 2011 Oct;23(4):290-6. doi: 10.1097/ANA.0b013e31822914a176 patients scheduled for spinal fixation surgery were randomized to receive prophylactic low-dose tranexamic acid (TXA) or placebo saline to determine the efficacy of TXA on the reduction of perioperative blood loss and blood transfusion. The results indicated that the administration of TXA led to no appreciable blood loss of transfusion reduction compared to saline.
