Orthopaedic Resident Preparedness for Closed Reduction and Pinning of Pediatric Supracondylar Fractures Is Improved by e-Learning: A Multisite Randomized Controlled Study
J Bone Joint Surg Am. 2013 Sep 4;95(17):e1261-728 second, third, or fourth year orthopaedic surgery residents were randomly assigned to 1 of 2 groups to test the effect of E-learning on a resident’s ability to prepare for closed reduction and percutaneous pinning of a supracondylar humeral fracture. Results demonstrated that residents who used the E-learning method were more prepared for the surgery than those who did not, and that the majority of residents felt using the online resource reduced their anxiety before surgery, increased their comfort and attention to detail during the operation, and improved their overall operative process.
