The effects of dynamic neuromuscular stabilization approach on clinical outcomes in older patients with chronic nonspecific low back pain: a randomized, controlled clinical trial.
Somatosens Mot Res . 2023 Sep;40(3):116-125.Seventy-two patients with chronic non-specific low back pain (CNSLBP) were randomized to receive conventional physiotherapy plus Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization (DNS) (n=34 analyzed) or conventional physiotherapy alone (n=36). The primary outcomes were Functional Movement Screen (FMS) and 6-Minute Walk Test (6MWT). Secondary outcomes included Timed-Up-and-Go (TUG) and WHOQOL-OLD. Outcomes were assessed at baseline and after 6 weeks of treatment. Overall, the results showed greater improvements with DNS for several FMS components and for TUG, while 6MWT and quality-of-life gains were similar between groups. These findings suggest DNS added to conventional care enhances movement quality and functional balance in older adults with CNSLBP.
