Five-year results of a randomized clinical trial on treatment in Dupuytren's disease: percutaneous needle fasciotomy versus limited fasciectomy
Plast Reconstr Surg. 2012 Feb;129(2):469-77. doi: 10.1097/PRS.0b013e31823aea95The 5-year follow-up results of a previous study that compared two different treatments for Dupuytren’s disease was presented in this article. 111 patients were randomized and received either percutaneous needle fasciotomy or limited fasciectomy. At the 5-year follow-up, patients who received percutaneous needle fasciotomy demonstrated a higher and earlier rate of recurrence. Furthermore, it was displayed that treatment at an older age correlated with reduced recurrence.
