Fifty-three patients with myofascial pain syndrome were randomized to receive 6 weekly sessions of dry needling (n=27) or dry needling plus intramuscular electrical stimulation (n=26). The outcomes of interest included pain on a Numeric Pain Rating Scale (NPRS) and the Neck Disability Index (NDI). Outcomes were assessed at 3, 6 and 12 weeks follow up. No significant differences in all outcomes were observed between the two groups, at any time point.
