A Prospective Randomized Clinical Trial in Total Hip Arthroplasty-Comparing Early Results Between the Direct Anterior Approach and the Posterior Approach
J Arthroplasty. 2017 Mar;32(3):883-89075 patients scheduled for total hip arthroplasty were randomized to either a direct anterior approach or a posterior approach. Primary outcomes were patient-reported outcome measures, including the Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC) and the Oxford Hip Score (OHS) at 2, 6, and 12 weeks postoperatively. No significant differences were observed between groups in either outcome at any time point.
