Comparison of percutaneous curved kyphoplasty and bilateral percutaneous kyphoplasty in osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures: a randomized controlled trial
BMC Musculoskelet Disord. 2021 Jun 26;22(1): 588.Seventy two patients with osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures (OVCF) were randomized to receive bilateral percutaneous kyphoplasty (PKP) (n=36) or unilateral percutaneous curved kyphoplasty (PCKP) (n=36). Outcomes of interest included surgical and intraoperative fluoroscopic time, radiographic measures, complications and pain and disability scores. The surgical and intraoperative fluoroscopic times were significantly decreased in the PCKP group (p<0.001). There was no difference in pain or disability scores, radiographic measures or adverse events (p>0.05 for all).
