Controlled hypotension technology can improve patient recovery in the early postoperative period after total knee arthroplasty: A prospective, randomized controlled clinical study.

200 patients with knee osteoarthritis were randomized to receive either an inflatable tourniquet (n=100) or controlled hypotension (n=100). Outcomes of interest were total blood loss, coagulation function, levels of inflammatory mediators, knee joint function, penetration thickness of bone cement around the tibial prosthesis, and cognitive function. Outcomes were assessed up to one month postoperatively. Overall, the results of the study revealed that the controlled hypotension group had significantly lower total blood loss, improved knee joint function, and reduced levels of inflammatory mediators compared to the tourniquet group. These findings suggest that controlled hypotension technology can enhance early postoperative recovery in TKA patients.
