Combined Topical & IV TXA superior to topical TXA alone for reducing blood loss in TKA .
This study has been identified as potentially high impact.
OE's AI-driven High Impact metric estimates the influence a paper is likely to have by integrating signals from both the journal in which it is published and the scientific content of the article itself.
Developed using state-of-the-art natural language processing, the OE High Impact model more accurately predicts a study's future citation performance than journal impact factor alone.
This enables earlier recognition of clinically meaningful research and helps readers focus on articles most likely to shape future practice.
The Efficacy of Combined Use of Intraarticular and Intravenous Tranexamic Acid on Reducing Blood Loss and Transfusion Rate in Total Knee Arthroplasty
J Arthroplasty. 2015 May;30(5):776-80One hundred and twenty patients with a diagnosis of primary osteoarthritis (OA) scheduled for unilateral total knee arthroplasty were randomized to receive either a combination of topical and intravenous administration of tranexamic acid, topical administration alone, or a saline control. Initial hemoglobin levels and postoperative drop, total drain amount, total blood loss, and transfusion rate were assessed 1 and 3 days postoperatively. Results indicated that the combined treatment and topical treatment alone both are viable treatment options compared to the control, with the combined group displaying potential as the superior treatment.
