Migration pattern of a short uncemented stem with or without collar: a randomised RSA-study with 2 years follow-up.
Hip Int. 2021 Jul;31(4): 500-506.Fifty patients undergoing primary total hip arthroplasty were randomized to receive a collared (n=25) or collarless (n=25) proximally loading uncemented femoral stem. The primary outcome was postoperative migratory patterns utilizing repeated radiostereometry (RSA) examination. Secondary outcomes of interest included standard radiographs and patient reported outcomes measured by the Hip disability and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (HOOS) and the General Health Questionnaire (EQ-5D). There was no statistically significant differences between the two stems regarding postoperative migratory patterns. No differences in patient reported outcomes were found. No stems underwent revisions at two year follow-up.
