Two Year Migration in a Randomised Controlled Trial of Fixation with or without Screws for an Uncemented Tibial Base Plate
51 patients were randomized to receive a BioForm total knee replacement with or without screw fixation to determine if this augmentation is necessary for stable fixation. The results indicate that screws did not significantly improve implant fixation, as both groups demonstrated similar implant migration at two years. The amount of migration observed in both groups was similar to other uncemented designs.
