Fusion versus Bryan Cervical Disc in two-level cervical disc disease: a prospective, randomised study
Int Orthop. 2009 Oct;33(5):1347-51. Epub 2008 Oct 28.65 patients suffering from 2-level cervical disc disease were randomized to receive either anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ADCF) or Bryan disc replacement. The goal of this study was to compare these two treatment methods in terms of pain and functional outcomes. The results indicated that the Bryan disc replacement produced better functional (assessed using the Neck Disability Index (NDI)) and physical component outcomes (assessed using the Short Form 36 (SF-36)) when compared to ADCF at a 2-year follow-up.
