Brief Violence Interventions With Community Case Management Services Are Effective for High-Risk Trauma Patients

75 patients who were admitted to the hospital for self sustained injuries from assault, stabbings or by firearm were randomized to receive either brief in-hospital psychoeducational violence intervention alone or in combination with community case management services (CCMS), which includes vocational, employment, educational, housing, mental health, and recreational assistance. The results of the 6-month study indicated that individuals, who received the additional CCMS services, were significantly more inclined to use community service in comparison to the group that received psychoeducational violence intervention.
