Upper extremity spasticity in children with cerebral palsy: a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study of the short-term outcomes of treatment with botulinum A toxin
J Hand Surg Am. 2013 Mar;38(3):435-46.e1. doi: 10.1016/j.jhsa.2012.12.019This study randomized 73 children suffering from cerebral palsy with varying levels of function to assess the safety and efficacy of upper extremity injections of BoNT-A by comparing it to a placebo. The assessment at 26 weeks revealed that BoNT-A injections led to significant short-term improvements in upper extremity function when compared to placebo.
