Immobilisation of torus fractures of the wrist in children (FORCE): a randomised controlled equivalence trial in the UK

研究概要

Nine hundred and sixty-five pediatric patients were randomized to receive either a bandage (n=489) or a splint for rigid immobilization (n=476) for the treatment of distal torus fractures of the wrist. The primary outcome of this trial was pain intensity after 3 days using the Wong-Baker FACES Pain Rating Scale. Secondary outcomes included functional recovery measured via the Patient Report Outcomes Measurement System Upper Extremity Score for Children Computer Adaptive Test, health-related quality of life via the EuroQol 3-level EQ-5DY questionnaire, and satisfaction via a 7-item Likert scale. Equivalence was apparent at 3 days and over the course of the 6-week follow-up period, with regard to pain intensity. No safety concerns were reported for both groups.
