Audio Distraction for Traction Pin Insertion: A Prospective Randomized Controlled Study.

研究概要

Fifty-four patients requiring skeletal traction for lower-extremity fractures were randomized to either receive audio distraction (AD) (n=28) or no distraction (n=26) during pin insertion. The primary outcome of interest was patient-reported anxiety levels. Secondary outcomes included patient-reported pain, overall procedure experience, and physician-reported difficulty of the procedure. Outcomes were assessed immediately following the procedure. Overall, the results showed that patients in the AD group reported significantly lower anxiety levels (p=0.007) compared to those without AD, while pain and overall experience ratings did not differ significantly. Physician-reported difficulty of the procedure was also similar between groups.
