Effects of kinesiotaping during early post-operative rehabilitation of total knee arthroplasty .
Effects of kinesiotaping during early post-operative rehabilitation in individuals who underwent a total knee arthroplasty: A systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized control trials.
Clin Rehabil . 2024 Jun;38(6):732-748. doi: 10.1177/02692155241230894.Seven studies including 534 patients who underwent total knee arthroplasty were analyzed in this systematic review and meta-analysis, comparing kinesiotape plus standard rehabilitation versus standard rehabilitation alone. Pooled outcomes of interest included pain, knee flexion range of motion, edema, and mobility. Kinesiotape combined with standard rehabilitation showed significant but modest reductions in pain and improvements in range of motion at both early (2-4 days) and late (6-8 days) post-operative time points. However, edema and mobility outcomes were inconsistent and could not be conclusively analyzed.
