Arthroscopic rotator cuff repair combined with platelet-rich plasma products can reduce the rate of retearing and improve clinical outcomes: A meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials.

This meta-analysis included 21 randomized controlled trials involving 1,359 patients with full-thickness rotator cuff tears. The study compared arthroscopic rotator cuff repair (ARCR) with PRP supplementation versus ARCR without PRP. Pooled outcomes included retearing rates, Constant–Murley score, University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) score, visual analog scale (VAS) score, and American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES) score. PRP significantly reduced retearing rates and improved short-, medium-, and long-term Constant scores, UCLA short-term scores, and VAS scores. The findings suggest that PRP reduces the risk of repair failure and enhances postoperative clinical outcomes.
