PRP Injections versus Viscosupplementation for Early Knee Osteoarthritis: a Randomized Double-Blind Study
72 patients were randomized to compare the efficacy of Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) or hyaluronic acid (HA) for the treatment of chondropathy or early knee osteoarthritis (OA). Results at the 6-month follow-up revealed that both groups displayed a significant improvement in regards to function and quality of life. However, there were no statistically significant differences between the two treatments, with only a slightly favourable trend for the PRP group.
