Effect of adding one 15-minute-walk on the day of surgery to fast-track rehabilitation after total knee arthroplasty: a randomized, single-blind study.

OE Journal. 2015;3(16):15 Eur J Phys Rehabil Med. 2015 Jun;51(3):245-52.66 patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty (TKA) for primary osteoarthritis were included in the study. The present trial was conducted in order to determine whether going on two 15 minute walks after the procedure as opposed to only one walk would reduce postoperative pain when sitting and walking, and fast-track the rehabilitation process. Findings indicated that the additional 15 minute walk provided no increased benefit as pain, function, and range of motion outcomes were comparable between groups.
