All-inside suture device is superior to meniscal arrows in meniscal repair: a prospective randomized multicenter clinical trial with 2-year follow-up

46 patients with vertical longitudinal knee meniscal tears were randomized to receive meniscal repair through either meniscal arrows (Biofix) or all-inside sutures (FasT-Fix). This was done to determine whether one meniscal repair device provided higher success rates and more favourable functional outcomes. Incidence of meniscus retearing, as well as the Knee Injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score and the Tegner activity scale were used to measure outcomes. Results indicated that those who had undergone meniscal repair with the all-inside suture device experienced a significantly reduced failure rate, although both groups of patients experienced significant increases in Knee Injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Scores from baseline to 2 years postoperatively.
