Adductor canal block versus intra-articular steroid and lidocaine injection for knee osteoarthritis: a randomized controlled study.

Sixty-six patients who were diagnosed with chronic knee osteoarthritis (KOA) pain, were randomized to receive either adductor canal block (ACB) (n=33) or intra-articular steroid-lidocaine injection (n=33) for the treatment of knee pain. The primary outcome of this trial was to determine the efficacy of these blocks on pain and knee function. Outcomes such as the numerical rating scale (NRS) was used to measure pain and the Knee Injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Scores (KOOS) to measure function and quality of life. Outcomes were measured at baseline, one, and three months. The results of this trial showed no significant differences between the two groups in pain, function, or quality of life.
