Acute and sustained responses to psychedelic psilocybin in a mindfulness group retreat .
This study has been identified as potentially high impact.
OE's AI-driven High Impact metric estimates the influence a paper is likely to have by integrating signals from both the journal in which it is published and the scientific content of the article itself.
Developed using state-of-the-art natural language processing, the OE High Impact model more accurately predicts a study's future citation performance than journal impact factor alone.
This enables earlier recognition of clinically meaningful research and helps readers focus on articles most likely to shape future practice.
Characterization and prediction of acute and sustained response to psychedelic psilocybin in a mindfulness group retreat
Sci Rep. 2019 23-Feb;():. 10.1038/s41598-019-50612-340 healthy expert Buddhist meditation practitioners underwent a double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled, between-subject study design to test the synergistic effects of psilocybin and the predictors of the acute response. The meditators received either psilocybin (315 micrograms/kg) or a placebo during a 5-day mindfulness group retreat. Outcome measures included state mindfulness, meditation depth, altered states of consciousness (5D-ASC) and mysticism. Without severe anxiety, psilocybin increased meditation depth and positively experienced self dissolution. with enhanced mindfulness and larger positive changes in psychosocial functioning observed at a 4-month follow-up. Openness, optimism and emotional reappraisal were predictors of the psychedelic response.
