No Difference In Five-Year Clinical and Radiographic Outcomes Between Kinematic and Mechanical Alignment in Total Knee Arthroplasty - A Randomized Controlled Clinical Trial
99 patients scheduled for total knee arthroplasty were randomized to either mechanical alignment (MA) via computer navigation, or kinematic alignment (KA) via patient specific cutting blocks. The outcomes of interest included the rate of re-operation, presence of radiolucent lines, and functional outcomes. Follow up was conducted at 1, 2 and 5 years post-operation. The results from this study found no significant differences between MA and KA alignment in all outcomes at 5 years.
