2018 AAOS Annual Meeting: Minimally Displaced, Isolated Radial Head Fractures Do Not Require Formal Physical Therapy: Results of a Prospective Randomized Trial

OE Journal. 2018;6(6):1451 patients with a minimally displaced radial head fracture were randomized to either a supervised outpatient physical therapy program or home-based exercise program. Patients were assessed for self-reported disability, time to clinical union, and elbow range of motion over a 1-year follow-up. Self-reported disability scores were significantly higher in the formal PT group compared to the home exercise group at 6 weeks, while differences between groups at 3 months and 1 year were not significant. Elbow range of motion and the time to clinical union also did not significantly differ between groups.
