2017 AAOS Annual Meeting: Intraarticular Pain Catheter is Not a Necessary Modality for Postoperative Pain Control after Total Knee Arthroplasty

OE Journal. 2017;5(6):1150 patients scheduled for total knee arthroplasty were administered intraoperative pericapsular injection analgesia and standard medications and were randomized to either receive or not receive additional administration of intraarticular bupivacaine injection via a catheter on the first postoperative day. Groups demonstrated no significant differences in maximum pain scores or narcotic consumption within the first 48 hours postoperatively.
