Computer Assisted Surgical Planning for Distal Radius Malunion: A Randomized Controlled Trial
15 patients with distal radius malunions were randomized to receive corrective osteotomy either with or without computer assistance and patient-specific guides. The purpose of the study was to determine whether the proposed accuracy of computer-assisted surgery provides patients with greater improvements in clinical outcomes. The results revealed that patients who underwent surgery with the computer-assisted technique experienced greater improvements in pain and satisfaction after 1 year, and additionally, in functional outcomes at 3 and 6 months. Operative and fluoroscopy times were lower in the computer-assisted group.
