2025 AAOS Annual Meeting: Improved Clinical Outcomes and Reduced Graft Reinjury Through Combined Anterolateral Complex and Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction

Fourteen randomized controlled trials with 1,830 patients undergoing ACL reconstruction were included in this systematic review and meta-analysis comparing combined ACLR with ALC procedures (LET or ALLR) versus isolated ACLR. Pooled outcomes of interest included graft failure rates and clinical outcomes such as rotational stability. Combined ACLR and ALC procedures significantly reduced graft failures and improved clinical outcomes (p<0.05), while no significant difference was found between LET and ALLR techniques (p>0.05). These findings suggest that adding ALC procedures to ACLR offers superior clinical benefits without a clear advantage of one lateral procedure over the other.
