Efficacy Of Virtual Reality Balance Training On Rehabilitation Outcomes Following ACL Reconstruction .
Efficacy of virtual reality balance training on rehabilitation outcomes following anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
PLoS One . 2025 Jan 14;20(1):e0316400.Six randomized controlled trials involving 464 patients following ACL reconstruction were included in this systematic review and meta-analysis comparing virtual reality (VR) balance training to conventional rehabilitation. Pooled outcomes of interest included IKDC scores, visual analogue scale (VAS), Holden grading, extensor and flexor peak torque, knee reaction time, and knee angle reproduction differences. VR training significantly improved IKDC scores, muscle strength, proprioception measures, and reduced pain levels. The findings suggest that VR-based balance rehabilitation may enhance recovery post-ACLR, though conclusions are limited by the low quality of evidence.
