2022 AAOS Annual Meeting: Use of NSAIDs after Arthroscopic Bankart Repair Does Not Affect Incidence of Recurrent Instability at 24-Month Follow Up: A Randomized Controlled Study

Eighty patients undergoing arthroscopic Bankart repair for anterior shoulder instability were randomized to receive an opioid-sparing postoperative analgesic protocol or a standard opioid based protocol. The outcomes of interest were recurrent instability, revision surgery, pain and satisfaction. There was no significant differences for any outcomes between groups. Based on the results of the current study, NSAIDs do not affect recurrent instability following arthroscopic Bankart repair and can be safely utilized as a postoperative analgesic in this patient population.
