2023 AAHKS Annual Meeting: Multi-center RCT on Manipulation Under Anesthesia With and Without IV Steroids and PO Celecoxib

OE Journal. 2023;11(21):6131 patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty (TKA) with manipulation under anesthesia (MUA) with physical therapy (PT) were randomized to receive either IV dexamethasone and oral celecoxib or no anti-inflammatory medications. Outcomes of interest included range of motion (ROM), Knee Society Score (KSS), Short-Form Questionnaire (SF-12), Knee Injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (KOOS), and Patient-Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System (PROMIS) at six weeks and one year. The use of dexamethasone and celecoxib after MUA + PT did not show any benefits compared to MUA + PT alone for TKA.
