Long-term Follow-up of a Randomized Controlled Trial Comparing Scarf to Chevron Osteotomy in Hallux Valgus Correction

OE Journal. 2017;5(2):8 Foot Ankle Int. 2016 Jul;37(7):687-9583 patients, with a total of 96 cases of hallux valgus, were randomized surgical correction using the scarf osteotomy or the chevron osteotomy. The purpose of this study was to compare recurrence rate, defined as a return of a hallux valgus angle of 15 degrees or more, between to two groups. Clinical outcome measures were also assessed and reported. Patients were followed-up for an average of 13.8 years postoperatively. No significant difference in recurrence rate was observed between groups.
