Arthroscopic versus open distal clavicle excision: Comparative results at six months and one year from a randomized, prospective clinical trial

17 patients with acromioclavicular (AC) joint pain were randomized to either receive open distal clavicle excision or arthroscopic distal clavicle excision. The results at the 1 year follow up period revealed that both the open and arthroscopic treatment approaches resulted in successful and favourable outcomes. There were no significant differences between the two groups with respect to any outcome measurement, with the exception of the VAS score improvement from pre-operative measures to 1 year, statistically favouring the arthroscopic group.
