Effect of Focus of Attention on Transfer of a Postural Control Task Following an Ankle Sprain

OE Journal. 2013;1(11):209 J Orthop Sports Phys Ther. 2007 Sep;37(9):564-936 male patients with a grade 1 or 2 lateral ankle sprain were randomly assigned to either complete postural control training using an internal focus of attention or an external focus of attention. The results over the 3 day period indicate that patients who used external focus of attention during training (on moderately unstable surfaces) had improved postural control on less stable and untrained surfaces.
