Double-blind randomised controlled trial: Injection of autologous blood for chronic patella tendinopathy
Twenty-two patients with chronic patellar tendinopathy were randomized to receive either an autologous blood injection (ABI) or saline injection to the patellar tendon. Participants were followed-up for 12 months thereafter using the McGill Pain Questionnaire and Victorian Institute of Sport Assessment (VISA) scale. Both the ABI group and saline group demonstrated significant improvement in both outcome measures of the follow-up period, although no significant differences were observed between groups.
