Anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction with remnant preservation: a prospective, randomized controlled study

Epub 2012 Oct 1790 patients undergoing anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR) were randomized to either a remnant-preserving technique or standard approach. The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of ACL remnant preservation on clinical outcome over 2 years. Results at final follow-up indicated that clinical measures, knee stability evaluations, and second-look arthroscopic findings did not differ between the two techniques.
