2013 ISAKOS Congress : Prospective Randomized Comparison of Transtibial versus Anteromedial Portal Drilling Techniques for Clinical Results in the Double-Bundle ACL Reconstruction

70 patients requiring double-bundle ACL reconstruction were randomized to receive treatment using either the anteromedial portal technique for femoral tunnel drilling or the transtibial technique to observe differences in clinical outcomes between the two groups. Results indicated that there was no difference in Lachman test results, pivot shift test results, side-to-side differences of KT-2000, Lysholm scores, subjective and objective IKDC scores or isokinetic muscle strength between the two groups. However the anteromedial technique did place the tunnels closer to the native ACL foot print.
