Hatha yoga therapy more effective in treating knee OA than therapeutic exercises .
Effects of an integrated approach of hatha yoga therapy on functional disability, pain, and flexibility in osteoarthritis of the knee joint: a randomized controlled study
J Altern Complement Med. 2012 May;18(5):463-72. doi: 10.1089/acm.2010.0320. Epub 2012 Apr 26250 patients, with osteoarthritis (OA) of the knee, were randomised into two groups to undergo one of two therapy sessions, as a means to measure functional outcome. After receiving transcutaneous electrical stimulation and ultrasound treatments, patients either completed daily sessions of hatha yoga therapy or therapeutic exercises. Following 3 months of therapy, results displayed that yoga therapy was more effective at increasing knee function than therapeutic exercises.
